 Dr. Alice Sterling, OD


Dr. Sterling works for the Florida Eye Clinic in Winter Springs. She is a Board Certified Optometrist, who received her BS of Science, Biology from the University of Central Florida in 1979.
Psychology Studies from Mississippi State University in 1980.
Then her Doctor of Optometry from the University of Alabama in 1984.

UNITY Brand Business Consultant for VSP in
Florida, Puerto Rico, & U.S. Virgin Islands

                                             

Carole Bratteig is VSP’s UNITY Brand Business Consultant for Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. In this role, Bratteig supports independent eyecare practices by helping them maximize their VSP line of business. She provides training and education about all UNITY Digital Lens Technologies, UNITY AR, UVr and BluTech products as well as VSP’s optical dispensary tools and programs. Her responsibilities also include outreach through professional associations, schools and important Industry meetings and events where eye care professional gather.

A Florida-licensed optician and ABO/NCLE certified optician, Bratteig has twenty nine years of experience in the optical industry. Prior to joining VSP, she was the Professional Relations and Education Manager for Transitions Optical. She has also held management, operations, consulting and education positions for several large, well-known retail chains and private practices throughout the greater southeast United States. She has worked closely with all disciplines- opticianry, optometry and ophthalmology.

Bratteig earned an A.S. in Opticianry from Hillsborough Community College, Tampa, Fla. She is a member of the Board of Directors for National Academy of Opticianry, a member of the Board of Directors for HCC’s Opticianry program, and has been a contributor to the education committee for the ABO.

Nick Veliz, is the Key Account Manager for Carl Zeiss Vision’s Southeast United States Wholesale lab Operations, an 18 year optical industry veteran, Nick has been a District Manager, Regional Manager, Director of Lab Operations with a specialty in Freeform Manufacturing, and most recently worked on Zeiss’s Retail team as the Business Development Representative for Walmart Vision Centers and Sam’s Club Optical, but Nick’s true passion is providing Continuing Education in Florida.

As a veteran for over 35 years in the Optical Industry, I started in Louisville,

Kentucky as an apprentice.

I moved to Texas to continue my dispensing career, where I was also on the

board of the Opticians Association for the South West U.S. 

In 1998,I moved to Florida for the opportunity to represent a local laboratory.

My passion for speaking & training came to fruition with the association

of Transitions and Essilor lenses.

I continue my passion today with Carl Zeiss Vision. 

Currently I am the Business Development Representative for Carl Zeiss Vision in South Florida

& I sit on the board of the Professional Opticians of Florida Tampa Bay Chapter. 

I received the Professional Opticians of Florida Vendor of the Year award for 2012.

In 2013 I received the Presidents Challenge award from Carl Zeiss Vision for exceeding sales targets.




 Dr._Wipfli 

Jeffrey Wipfli, MD

Is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in advanced cataract surgery, LASIK and other refractive surgeries. As one of the most experienced eye surgeons in his field, Dr. Wipfli can advise patients on the full range of surgical and lens options available to best address their needs and accomplish their vision goals. Dr. Wipfli is consistently recognized by colleagues for his commitment to surgical excellence and praised by patients for his personal approach to their care. He earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and was a Graduate with Honors and Special Distinction as well as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Wipfli completed his residency training at the St. Louis University Eye Institute in St. Louis, Missouri, where he received the Rabani Award for Excellence in Patient Care. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and was named Pre-Professional Student of the Year. Before joining St. Luke's, Dr. Wipfli spent nine years in private practice in Oklahoma. Dr. Wipfli has performed more than 40,000 ophthalmic surgeries, including more than 30,000 advanced cataract surgeries.
Dr. Wipfli currently lives in Tampa with his wife Allison and their daughters Aubrey and Grace. He enjoys sporting events, playing basketball and spending time with his family.

Dr. Nathan Bonilla- Warford

Received his Doctorate of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry, located in Chicago, Illinois, in 2004. The following year he completed a residency program specializing in Pediatric and Binocular Vision at the Illinois College of Optometry. During his Optometric Internships, he studied developmental vision in Denver, Colorado and contact lenses and ocular disease in Chicago, Illinois.

Owing to his passion for improving the vision of children, Dr. Bonilla-Warford has published articles on such topics as the use of vision therapy to improve reading skills and has lectured to Optometry students and paraprofessionals as well as the general public on visual care of children, the importance of vision in personal development, and options for controlling nearsightedness.

Dr. Bonilla-Warford is very active in professional organizations and is a member of the American Optometric Association. He is Past President of the Hillsborough Society of Optometry and is chair of the Children's Vision Committee of the Florida Optometric Association. Additionally, he is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD), an organization dedicated to pediatric vision and vision therapy, and has earned the title of Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, an organization dedicated to vision research and education.

Not only does Dr. Bonilla-Warford care for the patients that come to his practice, but to all those in need. He has volunteered his time at the Special Olympics, Junior Olympics, and numerous school and community vision screenings. He traveled to Diriamba, Nicaragua as a member of Volunteers in Optometric Service to Humanity and helped examine and distribute glasses to over 2,000 people.

Dr. Bonilla-Warford is involved in the social media community as well. He uses platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and G+ to connect with people both locally and internationally. He is the past Chair of the Social Media committee for COVD and is dedicated to raising the awareness of children's visual problems via social media.

Dr. Bonilla-Warford's interest in the diversity of people is due in part to the varied locations he has called home. Born in Kentucky, he spent his boyhood in the Rocky Mountains of Montana. He then moved to Ocala, Florida for high school and completed a degree in Environmental Science at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he met his wife Cristina. They spent time in Madison, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois before returning to Florida. They enjoy hiking, camping, and music making. CRYSTAL HOFFERT, OD

Crystal Hoffert, OD has a well-rounded background in optometry. She graduated with Honors from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in Indiana, PA with a Bachelor of Science in Natural Science/Pre Optometry. While in college, she volunteered as an optometric technician at Indiana Eye Care and completed an internship at the office of Drs. Tarnoff and Hilliard, both in Indiana, PA.

Dr. Hoffert attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO), a school well known for its unique primary care philosophy, holistic approach, and excellence in modern optometry. While attending PCO, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society and an optometric tutor for Drexel Medical School. She also spent time as a vision screening volunteer for the Special Olympics and was a member of the American Optometric Student Association.

Dr. Hoffert completed several externships including an extended contact lens rotation at Charleston Eye in Charleston, SC; a medical optometry rotation at Kirk Eye Center in River Forest, IL; a primary care rotation with emphasis in pediatric vision at the office of Drs. Tarnoff and Hilliard in Indiana, PA; and an extended medical optometry rotation at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She has received several honors and awards for clinical excellence.

Dr. Hoffert graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry with a Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and a Doctorate of Optometry. Prior to joining the St. Luke’s family, she was a licensed optometrist at Brenart Eye Clinic in Yorkville, Illinois. Dr. Hoffert moved to Florida from Illinois in 2015 with her husband, Robert Hoffert, also Doctor of Optometry at St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute. They have a daughter named Laila.  In her spare time, Dr. Hoffert enjoys spending time at the beach, enjoying local attractions with her family, and cheering for her favorite football team – the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Matt started out as a Trainee Dispensing Optician in 1987 following some great advise from his Optician whilst at college. Qualifying in 1991 he managed a number of large retail chain practices responsible for all aspects of the business including staff education. In 2000 he moved to the lens manufacturing side of optics in a number roles with Transitions Optical. Starting as an eye care professional educator,  moving on to run the UK business and then emigrating to Florida in 2013 to be responsible for key retail accounts in the USA and Canada. He has also run the Carl Zeiss Vision lens business in the UK. Most recently Matt has moved to the frame business as VP Business Development for Inspecs USA.

Danielle Polite began her career in Maryland as an Ophthalmic Technician in 2002.

She has worked in multiple capacities in the industry since including, Optical Manager, Lab Tech, Optician

and she conducted rechecks/refits of glasses and contact lens Rx's. Danielle Polite is proud to be a

graduate of the prestigious UMBC, an Honors University in Maryland. She graduated with degrees

in both Biological Sciences and Psychology. Danielle is a Board-Certified LDO in FL and holds both

her ABO and NCLE certifications. She is currently an Account Manager for X-Cel Specialty Contacts

where she consults, lectures and trains Ophthalmologists, Optometrists, Opticians and

Ophthalmic Technicians. Danielle is also an entrepreneur. Her company, Politely Consulting,

helps candidates to pass the ABO, NCLE and FL Opticianry Boards. In addition, she helps

with optical business management. She is excited to enter a new chapter in her life where

she can lecture current, retired and new opticians.
